A Note from Hayden…
November 4th is a special
Day for the Childs family
For it was on Nov. 4th
In 1916 that my grand-father
Woodrow Childs entered this
Life.
He would marry Ozell
Heavener and they together
Raised 3 boys on the farm.
They instilled a good
Work ethic in them
That they would pass
Down to their children.
His motto was...
"Are You Hustlin'"
Someone noted at my
Grand-father’s passing
That he was a good
Businessman.
He served as the
Director for
Farm Bureau Insurance
For 40 years.
He was a Farmer
He was a Cattleman,
He was a Hunter,
He loved being outdoors.
He loved homemade vanilla
Ice cream.
He was patriotic
American who loved
God, Family and Country.
Most of all he was a faithful
Christian who was very active
In the work of the church.
Becoming a member in 1936.
Each of the boys would go on
to preach the gospel of
Jesus Christ.
The middle son,
Rex H. Childs Sr.
is my father.
Today’s post is in my
Pa’s great honor and memory.
I miss you so much and
Long for our reunion
With all the saints
In Heaven.
- Hayden Childs
So, what will matter?
How will the value of your days be measured?
What will matter is not what you bought,
But what you built.
Not what you got, but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success,
But your significance.
What will matter is about what you
learned as well as what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity,
compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched,
empowered or encouraged others to emulate your
example.
What will matter is not your competence,
But your character.
What will matter are not how many people
you knew,
But how many felt good when they were
around you and how you served them.
What will matter are not your memories,
But the memories that live in those who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered,
By whom and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident.
It's not a matter of circumstance but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.
- Michael Josephson
Woodrow Childs lived a life that mattered.

The Faithful Few
In every church, in every clime
When there’s some work to do,
It’s very likely to be done
By just the faithful few.
Many folks will help sing,
And some are glad to talk,
But when it comes to doing things,
A lot of them will balk.
“I can’t do this; I can’t do that.
Excuse me please, this time.
I’d be so glad to help you out.
But it’s not in my line.”
So, when the elders look about
For some who’ll help to do,
They nearly always must go,
And ask a faithful few.
They know full well they’re busy, too,
And always hard at work.
Yet they are sure they’ll not refuse,
Nor any duty shirk.
Some day the Lord will come again
With judgment wise and true.
And then with Him to Heaven fair,
He’ll take the faithful few.

What Does God Count?
I counted dollars while God counted crosses.
I counted gains while He counted losses.
I counted my worth by the things held in store,
But He sized me up by the scars that I bore,
I coveted honors and sought for degrees,
He wept and He counted the time on my knees,
And I never knew ‘til one day at a grave,
How vain are the things that we spend life to save.
