Every strike brings me

Closer to the next home

Run.

- Babe Ruth

My motto was always

To keep swinging.

Whether I was in a slump

Or feeling badly or having

Trouble off the field,

The only thing to do

Was keep swinging.

- Hank Aaron

I don’t rate them,

I just hit them.

- Willie Mays

Fenway is the

Essence of baseball.

- Tom Seaver

It ain’t over

’til it’s over.

- Yogi Berra

We (Atlanta Braves) hit every bump

We could possibly hit this year (2021)

And somehow the car still made it to

The other side,

We’ve been the best team since the

Trade Deadline and we played like it

All the way into the postseason.

We just got hot, and we just carried it over.

Said Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman,

Who homered and drove in two runs in Game 6.

It’s just an incredible group.

He Saw The Play…

Those who read baseball history would remember

The name of Christy Mathewson.

He was a pitcher for the New York Giants.

He won the first game that he pitched for them.

Then he pitched many times and was quite a champion.

In 1908 the New York Giants were playing the

Chicago Cubs for the championship of the year.

It was the last half of the ninth inning and the score

Was tied with two men out. A man was on first base

(Fred Merkle) Awaiting the hit. The hit came and they

Were away. The runner from first base crossed the home

Plate for the winning run.

Immediately, however, the run was challenged by Chicago.

They claimed that the man (Fred Merkle) running from first

Base had not touched second base. The teams were in a hot

Dispute. President Harry Pulliam of the National League was

Called In and he said, “Where's Christy Mathewson?”

Christy was called and was asked to state what he saw.

Knowing that the meaning of the decision, the losing of the

Championship for the members of his team, and the extra

Money that goes along with the championship to the winners,

Christy replied, “Merkel cut second base.”

Christy and his team lost the championship,

But baseball won something far more important than a

Pennant.

Honesty is a lost quality in the world today.

(The 1908 Cubs were involved in the famous "Merkle's Boner"

Incident, in which Fred Merkle, the Giants' base-runner on

1st base, failed to touch 2nd after the Giants' hitter had singled

home the winning run from 3rd. Johnny Evers retrieved the

ball from the crowd (which had flooded the field) and got an ump

to call Merkle out at 2nd. Merkle's mental lapse ended up costing

The Giants the pennant.)

071822 quotes

“For thus says the High and Lofty One

Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:

“I dwell in the high and holy place,

With him who has a contrite and humble spirit,

To revive the spirit of the humble,

And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”

Isa. 57:15

When plans are laid in advance,

It is surprising how often the

Circumstances fit in with them.

- Sir William Osler

Nothing is as real as a dream.

The world can change around you,

But your dream will not.

Responsibilities need not erase it.

Duties need not obscure it.

Because the dream is within you,

No one can take it away.

- Tom Clancy

If you want something new,

You must do something different today.

There's no finish line to this pursuit;

You should always be planning for what's possible.

Diligence, planning, knowing what you want…

These are what it takes to get to a better place.

Opportunities swirl around this planet constantly.

I'm sure that if each of us felt we deserved the best,

We would believe more in ourselves, and in others,

And in all that's out there to share, and we would

Reach out for a handful of that opportunity.

Revive me according to Your lovingkindness,
So that I may keep the testimony of Your mouth.

Psalm 119:88

There's no scarcity of opportunity

To make a living at what you love.

There is only a scarcity of resolve

To make it happen.

- Wayne Dyer

It is no great thing to be humble

When you are brought low;

But to be humble when you are

Praised is a great and rare

Attainment.

- Bernard

Every decision you make…

Every decision…

Is not a decision about what to do.

It's a decision about who you are.

When you see this,

When you understand it,

Everything changes.

You begin to see life in a new way.

All events, occurrences, and situations

Turn into opportunities to do what you

Came here to do.

“Behold, I long for Your precepts;
Revive me in Your righteousness.”

Psalm 119:40

Keep on going and the

Chances are you will

Stumble on something,

Perhaps when you are

Least expecting it.

I have never heard of

Anyone stumbling on

Something sitting down.

- Charles F. Kettering

A happy person is not

A person in a certain set

Of circumstances,

But rather a person with

A certain set of attitudes.

- Hugh Downs

071322 quotes

"My soul clings to the dust;

Revive me according to Your word."

Psalm 119:25

When you die, it does not mean

You lose to cancer.

You beat cancer by how you live,

Why you live and in the manner

In which you live.

- Stuart Scott

Most wealth is inconspicuous.

The man down the street driving

The nice car and living in the mansion

Could easily have greater debt and a

Lower net worth than the stealthy and

Wealthy plumber who drives a beat-up

Truck but seems to work only when he

Doesn’t feel like fishing.

- Loral Langemeier

It is better to wake up

Five hundred Christians than to

Convert five hundred sinners,

For if five hundred Christians

Really wake up,

They will win more than

Five hundred sinners.

- Vance Havner

An effort made for the

Happiness of others lifts

Above ourselves.

071122 quotes on revival...

“Then we will not turn back from You;
Revive us, and we will call upon Your name.”

Psalm 80:18

When is a revival needed?

When carelessness and

Unconcern keep the

People asleep.

- Billy Sunday

A revival does two things.

First, it returns the Church

From her backsliding and second,

It causes the conversion of men

And women; and it always includes

The conviction of sin on the part of

The Church.

What a spell the devil seems to cast

Over the Church today!

- Billy Sunday

A revival may be expected

When Christians have a spirit

Of prayer for a revival.

That is, when they pray as if

Their hearts were set upon it.

When Christians have the spirit

Of prayer for a revival.

When they go about groaning out

Their hearts desire.

When they have real travail of soul.

- Charles Grandison Finney

070922 quotes

Now it shall come to pass in the latter days
That the mountain of the Lord’s house
Shall be established on the top of the mountains,
And shall be exalted above the hills;
And peoples shall flow to it.

Many nations shall come and say,
“Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
To the house of the God of Jacob;
He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths.”
For out of Zion the law shall go forth,
And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Micah 4:1-2

Every day, I am reminded

That our life’s journey is

Really about the people

Who touch us.

- Stuart Scott

Pressure is a word that is

Misused in our vocabulary.

When you start thinking of

Pressure, it's because you've

Started to think of failure.

- Tommy Lasorda

Philanthropy starts early.

As important as it is to teach a

Child the building blocks of the

Wealth Cycle…

To invest, to stay out of debt,

To make money with money and

Create a Cash Machine using

One’s skills…

It’s also important to teach charity.

It is part of my son's annual routine

To choose five of his toys and give

Them away to an organization that

Can give them to children in need.

I also encourage setting aside a

Percentage of a child's earnings,

Even if it's from a lemonade stand,

To go to worthwhile causes.

Benevolent habits can and should

Be imbedded early.

- Loral Langemeier

070822 quotes

And now for a little while grace has

Been shown from the Lord our God,

To leave us a remnant to escape,

And to give us a peg in His holy place,

That our God may enlighten our eyes

And give us a measure of revival

In our bondage.

Ezra 9:8

The deeds you do today

May be the only sermon

Some people will hear

Today.

- Francis of Assisi

I AM…

The two most powerful words

In the world, for whatever we

Put after them becomes our

Reality.

- Susan Howson

We will receive not what we

Idly wish for but what we

Justly earn. Our rewards will

Always be in exact proportion

To our service.

“Will You not revive us again,
That Your people may rejoice in You?”

Psalm 85:6

I think of life as a good book.

The further you get into it,

The more it begins to make

Sense.

- Harold S. Kushner

Good people will do good things,

Lots of them,

Because they are good people.

They will do bad things because

They are human.

- Harold S. Kushner

One man alone can't defeat

The forces of evil,

But many good people

Coming together can.

- Harold S. Kushner

Jesus, Help My Eyes to See…

Jesus, help my eyes to see
All the good Thou sendest me.

Jesus, help my ears to hear
Calls for help from far and near.

Jesus, help my feet to go
In the way that Thou wilt show.

Jesus, help my hands to do
All things loving, kind, and true.

Jesus, may I helpful be,
Growing every day like Thee.

Amen.

 “For you, brethren,

Have been called to liberty;

Only do not use liberty as

An opportunity for the flesh,

But through love serve

One another.”

Gal.5:13

To preserve liberty it

Is essential that the

Whole body of people

Always possess arms

And be taught alike,

Especially when young,

How to use them.

- Richard Henry Lee

Firearms are second

Only to the Constitution

In importance;

They are the peoples'

Liberty’s teeth.

- George Washington

What, Sir, is the use of a militia?

It is to prevent the establishment

Of a standing army, the bane of liberty.

Whenever governments mean to invade

The rights and liberties of the people,

They always attempt to destroy the militia,

In order to raise an army upon their ruins.

- Elbridge Gerry

I want anyone who believes in life,

Liberty, pursuit of happiness to succeed.

And I want any force, any person,

Any element of an overarching

Big Government that would stop

Your success,

I want that organization,

That element or that person to fail.

I want you to succeed.
