112423 quotes plus...

Every good thing you do,

every good thing you say,

every good thought you think,

vibrates on and on and never ceases.

The evil remains only

until it is overcome by good,

but the good remains forever.

- Peace Pilgrim

We live in a changing world,

but we need to be reminded

that the important things

have not changed…

- S Truett Cathy

Don’t just think.

Don’t just talk.

Don’t just dream.

None of that matters.

The only thing that matters

is that you actually do.

So… DO!

- Jocko Willink

Not Man’s Opinion…

But God's Word...

Not my opinions may I speak;

If so, my witness will be weak.

Not what in human books I find,

Or the conclusions of men’s minds,

But what my God had deigned to give,

The teaching whereby we may live;

The book of Heaven, the Sacred Page,

The Rock of faith in every age!

That only must my message be

If I shall bless humanity.

I am not left to seek, forsooth,

In learning’s page to find the Truth,

But here it is beneath my hand

The Word which shall forever stand.

Unalterable, enduring, sure

Flows the Divine Fount fresh and pure.

- William Olney

112323 Happy Thanksgiving 2023...

“Let us come before Him giving thanks.

Let us make a sound of joy to Him with songs.”

Psalm 95:2

Author Stephen Sumrall tells us about the

first Thanksgiving in America, back in 1621…

“Encouraging as were many of the developments

among the Pilgrims, they experienced much sadness,

but they suffered their way through to Thanksgiving.

Brimming over with gratitude as a result of bountiful

crops in the summer of 1621…

crops that produced more than enough corn to see

them through their second winter in America…

Governor Bradford declared a public day of thanksgiving,

to which the Indians were invited…

Chief Massasoit was a remarkable example of God’s

providential care for His Pilgrims.

The chief and eighty-nine other Indians joined with the

Pilgrims in feasting on venison, wild Turkey,

vegetables from their gardens, and pies.

It was a joyous occasion for all,

as they ate and then competed in games and

merrymaking, and in prayer.

Even though they had endured great hardship,

God had been good to them and they recognized this”

- Stephen Sumrall, Pulpit Helps, November 2002, p. 1

President Reagan once said…

Our nation’s motto… “In God We Trust” …

was not chosen lightly.

It reflects a basic recognition that there is a

divine authority in the universe to which this

nation owes homage.

Throughout our history,

Americans have put their faith in God,

and no one can doubt that we have been

blessed for it.

The earliest settlers of this land came in

search of religious freedom.

Landing on a desolate shoreline,

they established a spiritual foundation

that has served us ever since…

While never willing to bow to a tyrant,

our forefathers were always willing to

get on their knees before God.

When catastrophe threatened,

they turned to God for deliverance.

When the harvest was bountiful,

their first thought was

thanksgiving to God.

- Ronald Reagan

Fill All My Vision…

Fill all my vision, Savior, I pray,
Let me see only Jesus today;
Though through the valley Thou leadest me,
Thy fadeless glory encompasseth me.

Fill all my vision, every desire

Keep for Thy glory; my soul inspire
With Thy perfection, Thy holy love,
Flooding my pathway with light from above.

Fill all my vision, let naught of sin
Shadow the brightness shining within.

Let me see only Thy blessed face,
Feasting my soul on Thy infinite grace.

Fill all my vision, Savior divine,
Till with Thy glory my spirit shall shine.
Fill all my vision, that all may see
Thy Holy Image reflected in me.

112223 In Tribute to J.F.K on the 60th Anniversary of his death...

60 years ago today our 35th

President was assassinated

In Dallas, TX.

It was a tragic and sad day

In American history.

I have been to Dealey Plaza

As our family took a trip to

Dallas in 1973 to visit my

Uncle and Aunt who were

Living there at the time.

I have done considerable

Research on this event

And I do believe their was a

Conspiracy.

I was watching a documentary

The other night and they

Conveniently left out

Lee Harvey Oswald’s own

Comments that he was a “PATSY”

He was set up to take the fall

For the crime of the century!

- Hayden Childs

"If it can be done to John F. Kennedy in 1963,

It can be done to another president in the future.

And we can't afford to have coup d'etats in America,

No matter how cleverly orchestrated and sinisterly

Contrived they may be.

That cannot be permitted to happen.

And the way you prevent that from happening

Is to expose those elements of government and

Society in this country that was responsible

For the killing of John F. Kennedy."

- Dr. Cyril Wecht

Efforts and courage are not enough

Without purpose and direction.

- John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Liberty without learning

Is always in peril;

Learning without liberty

Is always in vain.

- John Fitzgerald Kennedy

For in the final analysis,

Our most basic common link,

Is that we all inhabit this small planet,

We all breathe the same air,

We all cherish our children’s futures,

And we are all mortal.

- John Fitzgerald Kennedy

All of us have in our veins

The exact same percentage

Of salt in our blood that

Exists in the ocean,

And therefore,

We have Salt in our blood,

In our sweat, in our tears.

We are tied to the ocean,

And when we go back to the sea…

Whether it is to sail or to watch it…

We are going back from

Whence we came.

- John Fitzgerald Kennedy

If the United States ever experiences

An attempt at a coup to overthrow

The government,

It will come from the CIA.

The agency represents a tremendous

Power and total un-accountability to

Anyone.

112223 Jesus is the World's Hope...

“Go in through the narrow door.

The door is wide and the road is easy

That leads to hell.

Many people are going through that door.

But the door is narrow and the road is hard

That leads to life that lasts forever.

Few people are finding it."

Matt.7:13-14

Alas, Alas, How Blind I’ve Been…

Alas! alas how blind I've been,
How little of myself I've seen!
Sportive I sailed the sensual tide,
Thoughtless of God whom I defied.

I heard of heaven, I heard of hell,
Where bliss and woe eternal dwell;
But mocked the threats of truth divine,
And scorned the place where angels shine.

My angry heart refused the blood
Of a descending, suffering God;
And guilty passion boldly broke
The holy law which heaven had spoke.

The alluring world controlled my choice,
When conscience spoke, I hushed its voice,
Securely laughed along the road,
Which hapless millions first had trod.

Now the almighty God comes near,
And makes me shake with awful fear;
His terrors all my strength exhaust,
My fear grows high, my peace is lost.

With keen remorse I feel my wound,
And seem to hear the dreadful sound,
"Depart from me, thou wretch undone,
Go reap thy sin, and fell my frown."

Thus ends my mirthful thoughtless life,
Filled up with folly, guilt and strife;
Perhaps I sink to endless pain,
Nor hear the voice of joy again.

111623 Prayer for Gratitude...

“I will give a gift of thanks to

You and call on the name of the Lord”.

Psalm 116:17

Forever on

Thanksgiving Day

The heart will find the

Pathway home.

- Wilbur D. Nesbit

An attitude of gratitude

Goes a long way when it

Comes to physical and

Emotional healing.

- Jill Bolte Taylor

Cultivate the habit of

Being grateful for every

Good thing that comes to you,

And to give thanks continuously.

And because all things have

Contributed to your advancement,

You should include all things in

Your gratitude.

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Prayer for Gratitude…

Father God, I thank you for my friends

And ask that your kindness and loving mercy

Will watch over them this Thanksgiving season.

Give to each one the blessing of a new day.

And in the weeks to come,

May they experience your favor with a fresh

Awareness of your strong and faithful love.

God, sometimes life gets us down and we find

It hard to see things for which to be thankful.

Open our eyes to see the gifts you’ve freely given.

So I thank you, not just for the food on our tables,

And the blessings for this past year,

But for all the ways you have not performed

According to our liking.

For all the times you said “no” and for all the ways

You have worked in and through our lives,

Perhaps without us knowing it.

Thank you for all the unresolved issues and the

Ways we are still waiting for answers.

Thank you that you are the author of peace and

You are the lover of our souls.

Preserve us with your power that we may not slip

Into wrong desires, nor be overcome by adversity.

In all we do, direct us to the fulfilling your purpose;

Through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior

Amen.

- David Beroth
