Do We Have a Sin Nature?

Hayden Childs

At the 2024 men’s national championship basketball game In Houston, TX the Astronauts

who plan to fly back to the Moon in August 2024 were introduced.

(Update: According to plan, the crewed Artemis II launch is expected to take

place in late 2025, the Artemis III crewed lunar landing is scheduled for

late 2026, via Wikipedia.)

I read an article by Michael Foust on Christian Headlines about Victor Glover one of

the astronauts chosen for this mission. I was encouraged to learn he is a man of faith

and has actively expressed that in his work for NASA.

I want to share an excerpt with you from the article.

(Jesus, he said, is the answer to the world’s problems.

“We have a sin nature and we need Jesus,” he said.

“Jesus is that bridge that spans sin and gives us a chance of going to heaven.”)

– Victor Glover

I agree with everything he says here but his comment …

“We have a sin nature…

I do not agree with his concept of sin. Humans are not born in sin.

To say we have a sin nature is the doctrine of Calvinism.

“Calvinism is summarized and committed to memory through the acrostic,

TULIP… which stands for Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement,

Irresistible Grace and Perseverance of the Saints.” – Louis Rushmore

God made man pure and upright in His image in his likeness He did not make us sinners.

Gen.1:26-27

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [all the earth

and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him;

male and female He created them.

Eccl.7:29

Truly, this only I have found: That God made man upright,

But they have sought out many schemes.”

Rm.5:12

12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world,

And death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, Because all sinned—

Because of Adam’s disobedience sin and death were the consequences and

death spread to mankind because we chose to disobey and transgress

God’s commandments.

Rm.3:23

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

We do not have a sin nature at birth.

We become sinners when we disobey God.

This false doctrine “Sinful Nature” is creeping into our brotherhood.

We should be aware of it.

I personally believe it has a lot to do with the use of so many with the

New International Version of the Bible (NIV).

It is chocked with false doctrine.

"What Is Wrong with The New International Version?"

Gary Colley

1. It mistranslates Psa.51:5 to teach the false theory of Total Depravity!

2. It changes "flesh" in Romans 8 to "SINFUL NATURE",

teaching the false theory of original sin.

3. It denies the deity of Christ by removing "begotten"

from every text referring to Jesus Christ! (Cf. Jn.3:16).

4. It deletes both the statement of Philip on the condition

of baptism and the eunuch's answer! (Cf. Acts 8:37).

5. It falsely teaches the pre-millennial concept of the final and

complete salvation of national Israel in Rom.11:26.

6. It falsely teaches that sinners are "included in Christ"

at the point of hearing… Eph.1:13.

7. It further tampers with the plan of salvation in Rom.10:10,

teaching that justification is reached at the point of faith.

8. The same verse teaches that salvation is reached at the

point of verbal confession!  Rom.10:10.

9. It lends itself to the Calvinistic view that the Holy Spirit opens

our minds to understand the Scriptures… 1 Cor.2:12-13.

10. It changes 1 Cor.1:6 from "the testimony of Christ"

(the Gospel) to "our testimony about Christ" (Testimonials!)

11. It makes Peter teach that baptism is

"The pledge of a good conscience toward God"

advancing the false theory of faith alone.  1 Pet.3:21.

Many of these errors may be explained by the representatives

of Oral Roberts (1), Rex Humbard (2), and the Nazarene Church

(7), who served on the translating committees.

May we remind you that God said to all "thought" translators:

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord.
Isa.55:8
