042222 "So God Made a Farmer"

Yesterday afternoon as I began mowing our lawn on our property

in Lauderdale County AL my mind turns to thoughts of my two

farmer grandfathers.

I am posting Paul Harvey’s well know tribute to the farmer.

“So, God Made a Farmer” in loving memory and tribute to my

grand-fathers W.C. Mock and Woodrow Childs they were two

great American Farmers and everyone in the family misses them

so much. They instilled in their families a splendid work ethic and

a love for God and their fellow man.

My Grandpa Mock had a 930 Case Tractor, and My Grandpa Childs

had a 630 John Deere Tractor among other tractors they used through

the years in their farming in Missouri and Mississippi.

Sometimes it’s materialistic things.

Sometimes people worship money.

Sometimes they worship power.

Everybody has something that they

Priorities out to be our faith,

Our family, our profession.

Everyone chooses one of two roads in life…

The old and the young, the rich and the poor,

Men and women alike.

One is the broad, well-traveled road to mediocrity,

The other the road to greatness and meaning.

The range of possibilities that exists

Within each of these two destinations

Is as wide as the diversity of gifts

And personalities in the human family.

But the contrast between the two destinations

Is as the night is to the day.

041622 Who Crucified Jesus?

Who Crucified Jesus?

When we observe the famous painting of Rembrandt called

“The Three Crosses”, our attention is drawn to the cross in

The middle where Jesus died.  Afterwards we see the crowd

At the foot of the cross and observe the expressions of these

Persons that took part in the crucifixion.  Finally we see in

One of the lower corners of the painting a lone figure in the

Dark shadows.  Many art critics believe this is Rembrandt

Himself who expressed that because of his sin he had

Participated in the death of his Savior.

It is easy to blame the soldiers for His death, or Pilate or the

Angry Pharisees, but in reality we were all part of those who

Crucified our Savior.  Somebody said: “It is easy to say that

Christ died for the sin of the world”, but it is quite another

Thing to say that he died for my sins.  Many people are

Indifferent like Pilate who tried to clear his conscience by

Washing his hands, or like Caiaphas who used the people to

Denounce our Savior, or like the cruel soldiers who nailed

Our Savior to the cross or finally like the angry mob who

Mocked him.

Think about this painting again; put yourself in the place of

The artist.  We were all there because of our sins.  We should

Be thankful for the words of our Savior, “Then said Jesus,

Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do”.

Luke 23:34

The Three Crosses is a 1653 print in etching and dry point

By the Dutch artist Rembrandt van Vijn, which depicts the

Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Most of his prints are mainly in

Etching and this one is a dry point with burin adjustments

From the third state onward. It is considered “one of the

Most dynamic prints ever made.”

041522 Rise Again...

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection.

I am life.

Everyone who believes in me will have life,

even if they die.

John 11:25(ERV)

Very early Sunday morning, the women came to the tomb

where Jesus’ body was laid.

They brought the sweet-smelling spices they had prepared.

They saw that the heavy stone that covered the entrance

had been rolled away.

They went in, but they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

They did not understand this.

While they were wondering about it, two men in shining clothes

stood beside them.

The women were very afraid. They bowed down with their

faces to the ground.

The men said to them, “Why are you looking for a living person here?

This is a place for dead people.

Jesus is not here. He has risen from death.

Do you remember what he said in Galilee?

Luke 24:1-6 (ERV)

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God has great mercy,

and because of his mercy he gave us a new life.

This new life brings us a living hope through

Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death.

1 Peter 1:3 (ERV)

Rise Again

Go ahead, drive the nails in my hands
Laugh at me where you stand.
Go ahead and say it isn't me,
The day will come when you will see.

'Cause I'll rise again.
Ain't no power on earth can tie me down.
Oh yes, I'll rise again.
Death can't keep me in the ground.

Go ahead and mock my name,
My love for you is still the same.
Go ahead and bury me,
But very soon I will be free.

'Cause I'll rise again.
Ain't no power on earth can tie me down.
Yes, I'll rise again.
Death can't keep me in the ground.

Go ahead and say I'm dead and gone,
You will see that you were wrong.
Go ahead, try to hide the Son,
But all will see that I'm the one.

Because I'll rise again.
Ain't no power on earth can keep me back.
Yes, I'll rise again.
Come to take my people back.

And I'll rise again.
Ain't no power on earth can tie me down.
Yes, I'll rise again.
Death can't keep me in the ground.
