Alabama was sloppy in the
first half but rebounded nicely in
the second half. He knew it would be a tough
game, told people
this week Kentucky
was better than people thought.
He challenged them at halftime
after he thought they didn't
impose themselves in the first half.
Red zone offense is something
he'd like to see corrected.
He said Tim Williams’s
suspension was limited to the first half.
The Rashaan Evans fumble strip
was a catalyst for the team
when the offense was struggling.
Damien Harris didn't practice
much after a high-ankle sprain.
They decided to "spot play" him in
third down situations.
On the pass rush: Saban said
they did a lot of seven-man
protection on third downs. It makes it hard when
they only
send four rushers. They added a few guys to the pursuit after
that. (Alabama had four sacks)
Both times Kentucky
didn't have seven man protections in
the first half, Alabama had sack/fumbles.
He said UK used a
little more 4-receiver looks than they
expected. There were a few more Wildcat
formations than
before. He said they need to get more
players involved in
the passing game other than Calvin Ridley, who had a career
night with 11 catches. First half passing struggles
occurred
when UK
played more zone than man. There were some missed
reads and protection
issues.
