 From The Banks of Burcham Creek…

I am back posting after a week of being

“ by saving us from the punishment of sin.
It was not because we worked to be right with God.
It was because of His loving-kindness that He washed
our sins away.
At the same time He gave us new life when the
Holy Spirit came into our lives.

God gave the Holy Spirit to fill our lives through
Jesus Christ, the One Who saves.

When I Have Time…

Poet: Miriam Brown

When I have time so many things I'll do
To make life happier and more fair
For those whose lives are crowded now with care;
I'll help to lift them from their low despair,
When I have time.

When I have the time the friend I love so well
Shall know no more these weary toiling days;
I'll lead her feet in pleasant paths always,
And cheer her heart with words of sweetest praise,
When I have time.

When you have time! The friend you hold so dear
May be beyond the reach of all your sweet intent;
May never know that you so kindly meant
To fill her life with sweet content,
When you had time.

Now is the time! Ah, friend, no longer wait
To scatter loving smiles and words of cheer
To those around whose lives are now so dear;
They may not need you in the coming year
Now is the time.

Happiness in the present is only shattered
By comparison with the past.
- Douglas Horton

If a man does not know what port, he is
Steering for, no wind is favorable to him.
- Seneca

No pessimist ever discovered the secret
of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land,
or opened a new doorway for the human spirit.
- Helen Keller

A sense of humor... is needed armor.
Joy in one's heart and some laughter on
One’s lips is a sign that the person down
Deep has a pretty good grasp of life.
- Hugh Sidey

When you reach an obstacle,
turn it into an opportunity.
You have the choice.
You can overcome and be a winner,
Or you can allow it to overcome you
and be a loser.
The choice is yours and yours alone.
Refuse to throw in the towel.
Go that extra mile that failures
refuse to travel.
It is far better to be exhausted
from success than
To be rested from failure.
- Mary Kay Ash

Shouda, coulda, and woulda

Why not chase what some see as impossible?
Why not believe in yourself?
Why not dare to be great...
Even if it means being different?"
- John Smoltz

You play the game to win the World Series.
Cy Young's are nice, they really are.
They're great and I'm proud of them...
But easily the biggest thing I've
Accomplished Is getting that World Series
Ring.
- Greg Maddux

The way a team plays as a whole
Determines its success.
You may have the greatest bunch
Of individual stars in the world,
But if they don't play together,
The club won't be worth a dime.
- George Herman "Babe" Ruth

It took me seventeen years to
Get 3,000 hits in baseball.
I did it in one afternoon on
The golf course.
- Henry "Hank" Aaron

... Even after you've just
Won the Super Bowl…
Especially after you've
Just won the Super Bowl…
There’s always next year.
If "Winning isn't everything;
It’s the only thing,"
Then "the only thing" is nothing…
Emptiness, the nightmare of life
Without ultimate meaning.
- Coach Tom Landry

My Old Kentucky Home…

The sun shines bright in the old Kentucky home,
‘Tis summer, the darkies are gay;
The corn-top’s ripe and the meadow’s in the bloom,
While the birds make music all the day.
The young folks roll on the little cabin floor,
All merry, all happy and bright;
By ‘n’ by Hard Times comes a-knocking at the door,
Then my old Kentucky home, goodnight.
They hunt no more for the possum and the coon,
On meadow, the hill and the shore,
They sing no more by the glimmer of the moon,
On the bench by the old cabin door.
The day goes by like a shadow o’er the heart,
With sorrow, where all was delight,
The time has come when the darkies have to part,
Then my old Kentucky home, goodnight.
The head must bow and the back will have to bend,
Wherever the darky may go;
A few more days, and the trouble all will end,
In the field where the sugar-canes grow;
A few more days for to tote the weary load,
No matter, ’twill never be light;
A few more days till we totter on the road,
Then my old Kentucky home, goodnight.
Chorus:
Weep no more my lady
Oh! weep no more today!
We will sing one song for the old Kentucky home,
For the Old Kentucky Home far away.
- Stephen Foster
