010225 From the banks of Burcham Creek...

From The Banks of Burcham Creek…

On the 31st I went to Lauderdale
County Courthouse to take care
of some personal business and while
In line I noticed a lady with a
tee shirt That had the following
words…

“Good Moms Say Bad Words”
maybe you have Seen it too.

I thought to myself how sad.

As a Christian I must disagree with
That sentiment.

Good Moms and Dads Say GOOD words
not bad.

I believe God’s Holy Word will back
Me Up on that.

As many of you know I took a job at
An Automotive plant last July.

Daily I am bombarded with “bad words”
the people I work with some of them
use God’s name in vain.

Many curse-like sailors, sadly these bad
Words have become a habit in their daily
Speech and apparently, they think nothing
Of using these “bad words.”

I want to share some scriptures
From a message I presented to the
Barn Creek Church 11/13/24.

Seeds of the Mouth

Proverbs 18:20-21

20 A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the
fruit of his mouth;
From the produce of his lips he shall be filled

21 "Death and life are in the power of the tongue;
And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof."

This picture in Proverbs 18:20-21 of planting seeds
in our lives from our mouths.

We are given the choice of either planting
bad seeds which produce poisonous fruit
or good seeds which produce good fruit.

Proverbs 4:24
24 Put away from you crooked speech,
and put devious talk far from you.

Proverbs 8:7-8
7 for my mouth will utter truth;
wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

8 All the words of my mouth are righteous;
there is nothing twisted or crooked in them.

Proverbs 20:20
20 Whoever curses his father or his mother,
His lamp will be put out in deep darkness.

Proverbs 10:21
21 The lips of the righteous feed many,
But fools die for lack of wisdom.

Proverbs 22:17-18
17 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise,
And apply your heart to my knowledge;

18 For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within
you;
Let them all be fixed upon your lips,

Proverbs 16:23
23 The heart of the wise teaches his mouth,
And adds learning to his lips.

Proverbs 8:7
7 For my mouth will speak truth;
Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

Proverbs 12:22
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD,
But those who deal truthfully are His delight.

Proverbs 24:26
26 He who gives a right answer kisses the lips.

Jesus Christ tells us in Matthew 12:34-35,
34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil,
speak good things?
For out of the abundance of the heart the
mouth speaks.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of his
heart brings forth good things,
and an evil man out of the evil treasure
brings forth evil things.

Our words reveal what is in our heart.

If we use “bad” words our heart is “bad”.
Jesus says they are evil!

Only Jesus can change a heart from
Bad to good.

The people we work with,
go to school with,
play ball with etc.…

Need Jesus…

He is the answer
To the “bad” words problem
In our world today.

POWER OF WORDS
A careless word may kindle strife,
A cruel word may wreck a life,
A bitter word may hate instill,
A brutal word may smite and kill,
A gracious word may smooth the way,
A joyous word may light the day;
A timeless word may lessen stress,
A loving word may heal and bless.

Three Resolutions...

- R. A. (Bob) West

Happy New Year!

Yes, it's that time of year again.

But before we get all wrapped up with 2025,
let's take a quick glance in 2024.

In your case, how was it?
What kind of life did you live?
Do you think God was pleased?

Of course, we can't live that part over,
but we can profit thereby.

We now have a completely New Year ahead of us.
What will we do with it?
Whom will we serve in 2025?
God or Satan?
There is no middle ground.

As we reflect upon the rewards inherent in service to the one
and the consequences of the other, our decisions are made easy.

My decision has prompted three resolutions.

I herewith share them to encourage you to adopt them as your own.

1. Resolved…

To come to a more complete knowledge of God's will.
Naturally, I cannot hope for an eternal home with God if I am not
pleasing to Him; I cannot be pleasing to Him if I do not do His will.
I cannot do His will if I do not know what it is.

Therefore, I will faithfully attend all Bible classes and fervently study
the Scriptures daily to learn His desires.

I will approach the Bible with an open and honest mind and let it
speak fully and freely on every subject.
I will endeavor to study each passage in its proper setting,
not willing to wrest the Scriptures lest I do so to my own destruction.

2. Resolved…

To live in harmony with the will of God.
I will be active in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Of course, before one can be active and fruitful,
he must enter the Lord's vineyard, the church,
by obedience to the gospel plan of salvation.)

I will be more prayerful.
I will attend all the assemblies (worship and Bible study)
and give as I have been prospered.

I will forsake all, even denying myself, to follow Jesus.
And though I know that all who live godly in Christ Jesus shall
suffer persecution,

I am resolved to not be ashamed,
but to present my body a living sacrifice,
holy, acceptable unto God.

I will work out my salvation with fear and trembling,
being not conformed to this world,
but transformed by the renewing of my mind by the
good and perfect will of God (Phil. 2:12; Romans 12:1,2).

3. Resolved…

To teach and persuade others to obey God's will.
As I obtain knowledge of God's word I will teach others also.
I am resolved to teach them in word and deed.
With the sword of the Spirit as my weapon with the militance of
Jesus I will lovingly expose religious error and moral wickedness.

And yet I will seek to possess Christ's other qualities
(e.g. love, joy, peace, faithfulness, meekness and self-control)
to such a degree that I might lead those involved in sin and iniquity
to repentance.

These three resolutions, if kept,
will keep us busy serving and pleasing God.
We will have no time for the devil.
Let's determine now to keep all three in 2025 (and forever after).
