We
put our hope in the Lord.
He is our help and our shield.
In him our hearts rejoice,
for we trust in his holy name.
Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord,
for our hope is in you alone.
Psalm
33:20-22
Any soldier worth his salt
Should be antiwar.
And still there are things
Worth fighting for.
- H. Norman Schwarzkopf
Veterans Day Prayer to Honor and Uplift Our Veterans
Let's join together in
prayer for veterans across the US.
Did you know there are over
sixteen million living veterans
who have served in at least
one war?
Over two million of those
veterans are women and nearly
ten million of all veterans
are over the age of 65.
Can you imagine being a part
of a group of men and women
who are ready to defend our
country from war?
To be willing to leave
family, friends, and comforts to keep us safe?
It is only fitting we would
have a special day to honor them.
Veteran's Day offers time to
remember, encourage, and comfort
Veterans in prayer.
A Prayer for Veterans with Emotional Scars…
Sometimes physical scars
heal but emotional scars will linger.
Many veterans suffer from
depression,
P.T.S.D. (post-traumatic stress
disorder), thoughts of suicide,
substance use problems,
bipolar disorder, and even schizophrenia.
The mental toll of being in
a high-stress environment is hard to
recover from.
Let’s say a prayer for those
who are still suffering.
Dear Father, nothing is hidden
from You.
Even the silent sufferer You
see.
We lift up those with
emotional scars
who have served in our
military.
Those veterans are special
to
You and You love them.
You see them.
Strengthen them to seek help
from
friends or counselors.
Give grace and patience to
those who
care for them.
Give wisdom to the doctors
who are
treating them.
We pray for peace for them
and relief.
Amen.

So we pray to Him now for
the vision
to see our way clearly… to see the way
that leads to a better life for ourselves
and for all our fellow people… to the
achievement of His will to peace on earth.
- Franklin D. Roosevelt
Our abundant plains and
mountains would
yield little if it were not
for the applied skill
and energy of Americans working
together
as fellow citizens bound up
in common
destiny. The achievement of brother and
sisterhood is the crowning
objective of our
society.
- Dwight D. Eisenhower
We are not afraid to entrust
the American people
with unpleasant facts, foreign
ideas, alien
philosophies, and
competitive values.
For a nation that is afraid
to let its people judge
the truth and falsehood in
an open market is a
nation that is afraid of its
people.
- John F. Kennedy
Above all, we must realize
that no arsenal,
or no weapon in the arsenals
of the world,
is so formidable as the will
and moral courage
of free men and women.
- Ronald Reagan
My Country ‘Tis of Thee…
My
country, 'tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims' pride,
From ev'ry mountainside
Let freedom ring!
My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills,
Like that above.
Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom's song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.
Our fathers' God to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright,
With freedom's holy light,
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God our King.
Additional verse to celebrate
Washington's Centennial:
Our joyful hearts today,
Their grateful tribute pay,
Happy and free,
After our toils and fears,
After our blood and tears,
Strong with our hundred years,
O God, to Thee.
Additional verses
by Henry van Dyke:
We love thine inland seas,
Thy groves and giant trees,
Thy rolling plains;
Thy rivers' mighty sweep,
Thy mystic canyons deep,
Thy mountains wild and steep,--
All thy domains.
Thy silver Eastern strands,
Thy Golden Gate that stands
Fronting the West;
Thy flowery Southland fair,
Thy North's sweet, crystal air:
O Land beyond compare,
We love thee best!
