Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
Yesterday morning we received a package delivered
By UPS the driver handed me the package after confirming
My identity. Then he asked me if I was the preacher here
At Barn Creek I replied yes, then he reached in a box and
Handed me a small metal cross with the words inscribed
“Jesus Christ is Lord” he told me to put it in my pocket to
Remind me of what life is all about.
Later in the afternoon I received a call from my dad. He told
Me he had some bad news to share with me.
He told me that my aunt Linda Childs of Corinth, MS
Had been involved in an automobile accident and she had
Passed from this earth life. She was on her way to see her Dr.
Unfortunately she didn’t make it.
She will never be at her earthly home again.
She leaves behind my uncle Jerry Childs, two daughters,
Two sons-in-law and her beloved grand-children, extended family
And many friends, her church family at Danville Church of Christ.
She was ready to go and we thank God for that.
She was a faithful Christian who loved the Lord and her fellow-man.
She had a servant’s heart.
Please remember the Linda Childs family in your prayers.
I am posting this poem in her memory and honor.

I’ve Anchored in Jesus
Upon life’s boundless ocean
Where mighty billows roll,
I’ve fixed my hope in Jesus,
Blest anchor of my soul;
When trials fierce assail me
As storms are gathering o’er,
I rest upon His mercy
And trust Him more.
He keeps my soul from evil
And gives me blessed peace,
His voice hath stilled the waters
And bid their tumult cease;
My pilot and Deliverer,
To Him I all confide,
For always when I need Him,
He’s at my side.
He is my friend and Savior,
In Him my anchor’s cast,
He drives away my sorrows
And shields me from the blast;
By faith I’m looking upward
Beyond life’s troubled sea,
There I behold a haven
Prepared for me.
Refrain
I’ve anchored in Jesus,
The storms of life I’ll brave,
I’ve anchored in Jesus,
I fear no wind or wave.
I’ve anchored in Jesus,
For He hath power to save,
I’ve anchored to the Rock of Ages.
