Dixie Putman Allison
2/14/42 – 10/18/20
A lot of good living in that dash.
This is not the end.
“The Best is Yet to Be”
- James Stowers
Founder of the American Century Mutual Funds
This has been a favorite motto of mine for many years and
It is especially true for the Christian!
The Best is Yet to Be for Dixie …
“Trust in Him at all times, you people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us.”
(Psalm 62:8)
If there ever was a day when we needed someone to help us it is today and this verse tells us that God is our refuge … we can pour out our hearts to Him. He is there for us…
“What you leave behind is not what
is engraved in stone monuments,
but what is woven into the lives of others.”
- Pericles
Hers was a life well lived …
A Life of Faith …
We just heard her favorite song …
“O How I love Jesus”
Over the last 3 weeks Lisa would sing this song
And Dixie would join in when she could.
We sang it on Sunday morning just before she passed.
She loved Jesus and Jesus loved her and everyone else she knew loved her too…
If everyone in America loved Jesus like Dixie Putman Allison did, we would not have the problems we are facing in this nation today!
She lived her life by this book I hold in my hand … It is one of her Bibles …
(Matthew 22:37-39)
Jesus said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
This is the first and great commandment.
“And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
Hers was a life well lived …
A Life of Family …
Whatever role God gave her she played it well …
Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Deacon’s wife, Grand-mother
She was a faithful and loving wife to Andrew. They stood by each other in sickness and in health.
Tuesday Oct. 20th would have been there 58th Wedding Anniversary.
She loved her family and they all loved her…
She especially loved the Christmas holidays where the family would gather on Christmas eve. It was the high-light of the year! Even though Granny Dixie is gone … will carry-on because the little ones still need Christmas memories …
She loved Lisa, Allison and Daniel, Sue (Aaron) and Frankie (Marilyn) James Deanna and Jake, Bradley Courtney and Jack much …
Hers was a life well lived …
A Life of Friends …
(Prov.18:24)
The good book says …
“A man who has friends must
Himself be friendly,
But there is a friend who
Sticks closer than a brother.”
She loved her special friends … Rod, Kathy, Irma, Guy Boy, and Nick just to name a few …
She loved her church family at Macedonia Church of Christ … she loved Bro. James & Sister Amanda and every one of her brothers and sisters in Christ.
The family are very thankful for the way you stood by Dixie and helped her when she needed it.
I want to thank all of the Health Care Professionals who provided medical care for Dixie these past 13 mths.
I want to thank those who cared for Dixie from Florence Cancer Center, Encompass Home Health Care and Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care. They all did an outstanding job.
I want to thank Lisa for standing by her mother and providing round the clock care these past 4 weeks.
We want to thank everyone in Dixie & Andrew’s family who helped Lisa in any way in taking care of her mother.
I believe I can sum up Dixie’s Life with this song co- written by one of her favorite singers …
My Life's Been Grand
My
life's been grand
I been a hand at livin' it up all the way
I've had good times and bad times
And hard times and done time
But life's been a blessing every day.
My
life's been grand
You know I'd write home and tell 'em
But they wouldn't believe
How good my good luck's been
And if it ended today
I've been all the way
My life's been grand.
